Around this time of year, right around the time the boys come back from Tempe, AZ and start gearing up for the Opening day, the Angels start putting up promotional banners of their star players around the city of Anaheim near Angels Stadium (On State College, From Chapman to Katella) and they look like this:

David Fletcher, Fan favorite.

These banners are meant to bring joy and excitement to the city of Anaheim and the Angels fans that drive up and down State College Blvd.

Now, Im not 100% sure who’s responsible for hanging these up, it could be Angels employees, it could be city of Anaheim employees, it could be a freaking Arte Moreno himself for all I know, but who ever it is, they do a great job 99.9% of the time.

Let me emphasize that these banners are meant to really set the tone and can only be compared to Christmas lights in late November. These banners display all of our favorite Angels stars all around Anaheim leading up to the stadium. The stars obviously include Trout, Rendon, Pujols, Fletcher, Upton and of course the 2-way Japanese sensation, Shohei Ohtani.

Here’s where shit goes south. All respect for the 2-way Japanese phenom, Shohei Ohtani, goes directly out the window. Brace yourselves…

Who in their right mind would treat one of our stars this way?!?! Would Disneyland place a banner of Donald Duck behind an overgrown shrub? Shohei Ohtani is a staple to the Angels and has been a Japanese heart throb sensation for Angels fans to enjoy ever since he joined the team in 2018.

Let’s get back to the idiot that decided to place Ohtani’s banner behind an overgrown tree. Ohtani’s face should never be covered under any circumstance (I’m sure all my female Angels fans will agree.) I understand they might have been following direction, but call an audible for christ’s sake. An audible here might get you a raise or recognition of some sort.

This lazy, robot-like, traitor employee either has an IQ of 17 or is a Dodger fan, which is worse by the way. But this error can’t be solely pinned on one organization. My guess is that the Angels outsourced the placement of the banners, and the city is clearly the responsible party for the landscaping of a tree on a public street.

So it looks like I’m gonna have to chalk this up as an L for the city of Anaheim. I know certain things are on hold due to COVID-19, but that doesn’t mean the city of Anaheim has to mail it in and disrespect one of our own like that. So, city of Anaheim, let’s pay a little more attention to detail here and make this right.

Angel fans need to join me in speaking up and getting this fixed! One of these city employees needs to get out there with a chainsaw and a broom to clean that shit up.

These bums are lucky this wasn’t a Trout banner or we’d be having a completely different conversation! Do better Anaheim.

If you guys happen to see any more negligence from the city of Anaheim, e-mail photos to me: Mfarias@collectors.com
